MEET THE ARTIST!
My work is the result of a deep navigation through the feminine and masculine— through womanhood and beyond, form and self, sexuality and flux. Made up of turpentine and vellum and dirt, my aim is to give grace to the rough waters found within ourselves in every stroke and bend of the brush.
“Self Portrait”
“Raised in a family of five by my mother and stepfather, I namely grew up very closely to my step father’s family. Growing up in the very home he was raised in, attending the same schools he did, the same churches,—family and community was a virtue. We are who we are made up of. They were the biggest projections on my life. This piece is a realization of that. As I delved into exploring myself and my roots I was able to create this piece and quite literally put myself into a box—clear, constructed, and on a pedestal. Taking up space through form and sound as I sit. This piece uses the loud running of the projector—a family relic housing memories before me—to lure you in as the loudness of a crowded Cajun-Italian family often does.
Upon looking closer and getting to see the video portrayed, you feel a sense of home—an acknowledgement that there is love and softness in this. There is heart in this. I additionally use highly concentrated portraits of the women who make up of me to mirror the parts of myself that I often overlook, and to offer an external softness and vulnerability to the piece. Parts where I see myself and feel the tie between us. They are what make up of me as a whole. They keep me together.”

“My artistic focal point for the past few years has been learning to navigate the masculine and feminine, focusing on the human form and its connection with the world around us. In 2023 I worked on a photography series titled "Through the Scope". This project was a means of taking highly concentrated and abstracted portraits of the human body and then doing the same to objects found in nature such as flowers, fruit, and wood- to compare and reflect the two and touch on our very nature as human beings. This is a reinterpretation of one of those works but with a slight shift in both medium and message. When deciding what materials and mediums I would use for this piece, I decided to land on a skateboard deck as my canvas to contrast the soft feminine stillness emulated in the still life referenced with something playful and boyish associated with constant movement and noise. In slowing down the board, revoking it of its wheels and choosing to replace the noise with the quiet found within the soft underbelly of femininity and form, I hope to touch on and navigate the dynamic between man and woman and the striking contrast in the expectations of us all.”

“A Woman Folded”
“50 stars and 13 stripes. The starched cotton will be unfolded and quickly take flight
—What about us?
Take up less space. Small enough to fit in his hands.
— No one could be that small.
Nothing is political about this. Nothing is small about this.
You want this so badly. What does she want?
This navel howls for privacy and my knees buckle for a say.
I am not small. And I love it that way.”
